I took my '99 Honda Accord LX coupe in for its 105K service + timing belt work and was very pleased on the work performed, price and overall experience with the staff. I really appreciate Matthew explaining what will be done and what can be done (e.g. if he sees that certain components needs replacement, he'll tell you but if they don't need to be replaced then he tells you that, too). I should have taken my other cars to him before-- but at least he'll be my repair guy for now on. Tips-- Sunnyvale Foreign Car Services is an AAA-Approved Auto Repair Shop. He takes the AAA feedback seriously (and eventhough his price is competitive and fair, the AAA discount doesn't hurt). If you can, make an appointment-- more so that he can plan the work and get the parts.

My wife has an 11 year old BMW. It needed a lot of work, lots of miles on it and it barely ran. They were very clear with her about what needed to done right now, what could be done later and what could be done when convenient. My wife has a PHd and understands cars and will not do business with people who treat her as if she cant understand mechanical things. Matthew explained things directly to her and answered all her questions without talking down to her, a rare quality in the auto repair field. She is very happy with her experience and is definitly going back. I feel good about how they treated her and the work done.

I've been taking cars to Sunnyvale Foreign Car Service since the original owner, Matthew's dad, ran it. I've taken the following cars of my own there: 1974 Porsche 914, 1987 Sterling 825SL, 2001 Audi A4. I've also recommended this mechanic to numersous family, friends, and acquaintances over the years. In fact, although I've moved far away from where this mechanic is located, I still take my 2001 Audi A4 there for service when I'm in town. The mechanics there are all very competent, knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. Whenever I get my car repaired there, it works. Period.

The engine light came on in my VW Golf a while ago, and I called a dealer to ask what I should do. I was told that they were very busy and would not be able to even look at the car for a few weeks. I called Sunnyvale Foreign car, they took a look at it the next morning. It turned out to be a faulty oxygen sensor, still under the state-mandated warranty. They recommended me to a different dealer who was able to make the repair the next day for free. I've been a loyal customer ever since.

These guys rock. They're very knowledgeable about my Audi and have always been thorough, competent, and honest in their work. They've treated the people I've sent to them (several of whom know very little about cars) well and have never been dishonest.

They have worked on my 1996 Subaru Outback 3 times. They were located near my previous job. First time was to fix a faulty O2 sensor, they also pointed out a crank sensor error that popped up but did not repeat. I ended up changing that a few months later when it acted up again. Their shop was spotless, and Matt really impressed me that he knew what he was doing. The second time was for my 60K service (@90k miles). They were more expensive then some shops, but in the long run very much worth it. The premium you pay to have a Subaru expert work on your car make a difference. Their work has stood the test of time and another trouble free 96k miles. They are a shop that goes by the book and they do the job the right way. The third time I went there was to replace the front wheel bearings at 110k. They a little more, but they did the job and it's been running great for the past 86k miles. Again Matt explained the process and I knew he would do the job the right way. I am very detailed oriented, and a mechanical tech working in the Semi conductor industry. When I pay my hard earned money I expect the job to be done right. When I got home I went over every repair and was impressed at their ability to bring a repair to "As New". No trashed or missing hardware, and no rework that costs you time to have a shop make a repair right. Their work easily passed my QC, and the test of time. I have changed jobs, and they are farther away. I'm looking for another good Subaru shop closer to San Jose.

I like the shop and they did a pretty good job for a while. Matthew does go to a lot of effort to explain things which I really appreciate. But when he said that it would be $1500 to replace the wire harness in my ancient Volvo, I decided to move on to a Volvo only shop that was closer to my home.

Matt made a house visit when my WRX was leaking oil right after an oil change. I didn't even know mechanics did housecalls! I'm so impressed with his professionalism, the friendliness of all the employees, and the cuteness of his dogs (even if they do shed a bundle).

Matt and his crew (including his lovely mom) are great people to deal with. they've cared for my subaru a number of times and will for years to come (until it meets its untimely demise). they take the time to explain to you what the problem is and how to fix it. they are sticklers to the subaru parts timeline though, it is up to you if you do or do not want the parts replaced. and the fact that they let you pet their dogs is just A+.

Paul is a straight shooter. He treats people fairly and takes the time to explain what's wrong, what needs to be repaired, and the options to making the repairs. I had a "leak" in my 7 Series BMW and took it to Paul (based on this web site's recommendation) for a quick look. He addressed the issue and found another problem and fixed it. Given the car's reliability, I had an inspection perfomed only to find the repairs the dealer had "done" were, in fact, not "done". Now I have a preventative plan to keep me from being stranded again. I will bring all my cars to Paul. If all my visits are this good, I'll keep going there!
