Sunnyvale Subaru Repair and Service
Subaru as a brand was first introduced in the United States in 1968. At the time, the company was called FUJI HEAVY INDUSTRIES. During this period of time, gas was inexpensive but there was much turmoil in the U.S. over a number of events. Both the Vietnam War and Watergate would occupy the country for some time. The 360 was the first Subaru model, followed by the FF-1. The FF-1 was the first model with Subaru’s trademark boxer flat engine. The next model was the GL-Coupe and then the 4WD Station Wagon. The 4WD Station Wagon was the first production station wagon with a 4-wheel drive. The popular slogan in Subaru ads was: “Climbs like a goat, works like a horse, and drinks like a bird”.
With the introduction of the Brat, the Subaru image began to evolve into “the sporty outdoor car that could.” The street version, called the “Justy,” set a production car record on the salt flats of Utah and out of that model came the SVX. This success led to the introduction of the Subaru Impreza, which would win in its early stage three consecutive World Rally Championships. Subaru in the years following has continued to be the car to beat in the World Rally arena.
Going into the new millennium, Subaru introduced the Forester, the Legacy Outback and in recent years has brought back the Baja. Subaru is now the brand that fits all ages and all demographics. Subaru is appreciated by young people, families and outdoor lovers wielding bikes and skis up to the mountains. Its current lineup has a model for everybody.
