I took my Jetta in for a coolant leak, and after it was fixed, Matthew showed me the old part and explained what caused it to break. They also alerted me that my rear brakes were completely gone when I had taken it in only for an oil change.

I love this shop! I had a problem with a repair the dealer had made to the car, and these guys explained exactly how and why the problem had occured, and fixed it the right way! They also worked really hard to avoid a $350 replacement of my mass air flow meter, not charging me any extra (beyond diagnosis) for the workaround. When the workaround didn't fix the problem (check engine light came on again) they swaped out the part in about 15 minutes and I paid only for the part, not the 15 min of time. Plus, they have really amazing shop dogs...

These guys were fantastic. My Passat had some serious and mysterious electrical problems, and Matt went right to work diagnosing it, keeping me appraised of the diagnostic costs and time (tough given the uncertainty of anything electrical). In the end, he figured it out in part through lots of networking with other VW mechanics. He fixed the problem, and then the problem that caused the problem. Most amazingly, he pointed out that much of my bill should be covered by my insurance's water damage clause, which I would have never considered, saving me $1300!! Honest, good communicator, diligent, thoughtful.

I am a female graduate student who is not that aware of (and actually has little interest in) "car stuff". I first went to SVFC because of their great reputation on this site. I continued to take my car (which i am convinced has been cursed by my x-boyfriend) to SVFC because of their extremely good service (Matt explains every last detail), their convenient location, and of course, to visit the dogs! Recently, I had a problem with my brakes--the rotors warped after being repaired by the Subaru dealership five months earlier. SVFC not only went to bat for me with Subaru to try to get them to reimburse part of the repairwork, but also gave me an extremely good price break when Subaru said that they would no longer honor the warranty. I highly recommend Matt and his merry band at SVFC to anyone who wants personal service and quality work done.

Matthew (the owner) is a rush-rush guy, but did take time to explain up-front what he thought should be done. His process struck me as thought-out and complete. His follow- up communication on the phone was excellent. After the repair was completed he explained exactly what he did and why. I will be going back if/when I need more auto work done.

Actually, I bought a car from Matthew and was very impressed with the operation. The shop is very clean, well equipped and professional. I came from out of state to pick up this can and Matthew was very honest, courteous and pleasant to deal with.

My Subaru was pulling to the right very badly. The dealership wanted to fix it but they had no game plan on how so they were going to experiment at my expense. A friend recommended Matt(Sunnyvale Foreign Car) so I gave him a shot. Not only did he know right where to go to fix the problem(CV joints, my previous mechanic had installed the incorrect ones), he got the parts and fixed it while I waited. Matt's great, the shop's spotless, and you can pet his dog while you wait.

I was having problems with the transmission on my 7-series BMW and since I was near the dealership, stopped there. They told me I needed a new transmission. I called Matt and he told me to bring him the car before I made any decisions. They discovered it was the traction control switch on the dash board. I had accidentally activated it. I was quite embarrased, but Sunnyvale Foreign Car Service saved me thousands of dollars. Thank You Matt

Matthew is the greatest but has the annoying habit of marching the customer all over the shop to find every bit and piece that was removed during service or repair. My wife was late for work one morning as Matthew insisted on lecturing her on the state of warped brake discs and inflexible fuel injector O-rings (my wife's mechanical knowledge is limited to the identication of basic car elements - tires, steering wheel, etc. I once had to walk behind the shop so that Matthew could dig through the trash to find my old timing belt. Anyway, this is the best shop I've ever found.
